Operations
Since 1899, the Albany - Delaware Township Fire Department has been proudly serving the residents of the Albany area and its surroundings. Our team consists of approximately 30 dedicated volunteers / paid per run responders who work diligently to cover an expansive 80-square-mile region, ensuring the safety of around 6,000 community members. While our roots lie in traditional firefighting, we have evolved to provide specialized technical services, embracing a comprehensive all-hazards approach to emergency response.
Operating from our station in Albany, Indiana, our department responds to over 600 emergency calls each year within our first-due area.

Our primary service area includes:
Delaware Township (Delaware County), including the Towns of Albany and Desoto
Portions of Niles Township (Delaware County)
A section of Richland Township (Jay County)
A significant area of Green Township (Randolph County), encompassing the Fairview and Albany Heights neighborhoods

Basic Life Support (BLS) Emergency Medical Services (non-transport)

Technical Rescue Services (Rope Rescues, Wilderness Search and Rescue, Water Rescues, Heavy Extrication, and Vehicle Rescue, Grain Bend)
At the Albany - Delaware Township Fire Department, we are committed to safeguarding the lives and property of approximately 5,000 residents in our service area. We actively collaborate with neighboring fire departments in Delaware, Randolph, and Jay Counties through mutual aid agreements, enhancing our ability to respond effectively in times of need.
