Assistant Fire Chief Cory Kissick has proudly served with the Albany – Delaware Township Volunteer Fire Department since June 2014. A fifth-generation firefighter and Albany native, Cory brings a deep sense of tradition and dedication to his role, where he leads with experience, integrity, and a passion for public safety.
In addition to his fire service duties, Cory works full-time as the Deputy Director of Delaware County Emergency Management, a position he has held since July 2020. He plays a vital role in coordinating emergency preparedness and disaster response, recovery and mitigation throughout the county and beyond. Cory is also an active member of the Delaware County Hazmat Team, the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), and Indiana's District 6 Emergency Management and Healthcare Coalitions.
Cory’s well-rounded public safety background includes prior service as a police officer with the Albany Police Department and a supervisor with Delaware County E911. His leadership has been recognized with numerous honors, including two Emergency Management Bronze Stars—for his work during the March 2023 tornadoes and the 2022 Eastern Kentucky disaster deployment—as well as two life-saving awards and multiple department recognitions.
He holds a wide array of certifications, including Firefighter I & II, Rope Rescue Technician, Swift Water Rescue Operations, Vehicle Rescue Technician, Advanced Incident Command and Management, and Instructor certifications. Cory also is a certified Indiana Department of Homeland Security Professional Emergency Manager (PEM) and is also a graduate from National Disaster and Emergency Management University Basic University Academy. His training and experience allow him to support both frontline emergency response, administration and behind-the-scenes coordination during critical incidents.
Through every role, Cory remains dedicated to serving his community and strengthening the department’s capabilities through training, leadership, and collaboration.
